Free Student Grants

Free Student Grants

The U.S. government provides several free student grants yearly. An estimated $67 billion of free student grants for students who wanted to pursue postsecondary education are released annually. The main thrust for the free student grants program is to assist the students and their families in shouldering the expenses of pursuing higher learning.
Federal Pell Grants provide free student grants. These free student grants from Pell grants do no have to be paid back. The main eligibility requirement for the free student grants from Pell Grants is based on the individual financial need.
Pell Grants' free student grants will be determined by the costs incurred to attend school, student's full or part-time status, whether the student will attend a full academic year or less aside from the basic financial need requirement of the student.
Campus-based aid programs are also another source of free student grants. This campus-based free student grants program is managed directly by the financial aid office at each qualified school. Three free student grants are given to schools. It is up to the school to distribute free student grants to qualified students. The amount of campus-based free student grants will depend on the financial need of the student, amount he/she receives from other financial aids and the total free student grants funds allocated to the school.
To avail of these free student grants, you can use the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)". FAFSA can be filled up online or on paper. You can access the FAFSA Web site (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to start the application process and get all the information you need for the federal free student grants program.
To be eligible for these free student grants, you must be:
Citizens or eligible noncitizen of U.S. with valid Social Security Number (SSN)
Able to produce a valid high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate or pass an "ability to benefit" test approved by Department of Education
Enrolled in an eligible program as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate
Able to register for Selective Service for males between 18 to 25 years old
Able to maintain good academic standing in school
Eligible or partially eligible on the Drug Conviction question
The last requirement is in compliance with the federal law which stipulates that persons convicted for the sale or possessions of drugs are not eligible for federal free student grants. But this does not disqualify you for other free student grants from nonfederal sources such as state or private individuals and/or organizations so completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is strongly encouraged.
Free student grants are one valuable resource to fund one's pursuit for higher learning. It does not require you to pay back. So, make the most out of these free student grants.
